Skillsoft platform and content create globally consistent training programs for 6,000 staff across 100 countries

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Skillsoft, the global leader in corporate learning, today announced that Cardno launched an internal learning culture and corporate university for 6,000 staff across 100 countries using Skillsoft’s platform and content. As a result, Cardno can better recruit, train and manage its global workforce to ensure the safety of all employees, clients and communities.

Cardno’s growth from a small engineering consultancy formed in Brisbane, Australia in 1945 to a global physical infrastructure, environmental services and international development firm today is due to a fundamental belief and commitment to training its multi-generational workforce. Utilizing Skillsoft’s platform and content, Cardno created Cardno University to offer globally consistent training that can be easily completed, yet inspiring and engaging, while also remaining cost-effective to deliver and drive business impact.

Cardno’s Learning & Development team built Cardno University to reflect employee input and the desire to ensure everyone receives the correct training for their roles regardless of cultural background. The implementation factored in geographical and language features along with legislative requirements and local laws to make content applicable to all employees. The Learning & Development team provides support to regional offices and project teams. This support enables global training frameworks and customized methodologies to meet staffs’ specific learning and development needs.

To oversee the program during the design phase, Cardno established the Cardno University Governing Body with employee representation from all regions to ensure consistent training across the company. The Governing Body met on a quarterly basis to set the strategic direction for content, evaluate successes, plan next steps and act on employee feedback.

There have been many positive outcomes from the inclusion of employees in the planning, with one such standout being the subject of diversity. To answer calls for greater diversity, especially amongst gender, Cardno University worked closely with the company’s Women in Cardno program to release a brand new “Women in Cardno Leadership Training” platform.
