NASHUA, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SkillSoft PLC (Nasdaq: SKIL), a leading SaaS provider of on demand e-learning and performance support solutions for global enterprises, government, education and small- to medium-sized businesses, today announced the expansion of its articulation agreement with University of Phoenix. The University recently evaluated and approved over 1,400 additional SkillSoft courses to be eligible for college credits, bringing the total number of eligible courses with the University to more than 3,400. Employees at organizations that use these SkillSoft courses can now not only satisfy their professional training requirements, but also work toward a goal of completing an associate's or bachelor's degree in the process through the University of Phoenix.

"SkillSoft's strong track record with the University of Phoenix is proof of technology-enabled learning's pervasiveness," said John Ambrose, senior vice president of Strategy, Corporate Development and Emerging Business for SkillSoft. "In an era where online education and training is becoming more popular, it makes perfect sense to grow our partnership because it will help more employees develop in their careers."

SkillSoft's customers also benefit because they can leverage their investment in SkillSoft's products to support not only the professional development of their employees, but also to offer a pathway toward earning credit towards an associate's or bachelor's degree for those who choose to pursue such degrees through the University of Phoenix. The credit recommendation guide provided by the University of Phoenix represents a list of courses eligible for credit in the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program. University of Phoenix has aligned many titles from SkillSoft's Business Skills library with its Communication Arts and Social Sciences programs, while also selecting titles from SkillSoft's IT and Desktop libraries, which have been targeted towards the Science Technology and Basic Computer Applications curricula. In addition to these specific curricula, SkillSoft's courses can also be used as electives toward numerous programs offered by the University.

"SkillSoft has been a great partner over the years," says Bob Elz, Global Vice President Apollo Group, parent company of the University of Phoenix which has more than 200 campus locations throughout the country. "Through this agreement, we not only recognize the high regard in which we hold SkillSoft courses, but also our commitment to providing ongoing value to students as they move closer to completing their associate's or bachelor's degrees."
