Patrick Kolek joined Naspers in 2014 as Chief Financial Officer, ecommerce. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer, Naspers in July 2016, and assumed the additional role of Group Chief Operating Officer of Prosus at its listing on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange in September 2019. As Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Kolek is focused on aligning group strategy with company objectives, leading core business activities and strategic initiatives such as large acquisitions & divestitures. Mr. Kolek has more than 20 years’ experience in executing business growth and development strategies for hyper growth organizations. He has been a board member of Delivery Hero SE, which is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, since 2017. In June 2021, Mr. Kolek was appointed chairperson of the board of Skillsoft Corp., which commenced trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) the same month. Prior to Naspers, Mr. Kolek spent 10 years at eBay, most recently as VP and CFO of eBay International and previously as the COO of eBay Classifieds. Mr. Kolek holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Santa Clara University and is a certified public accountant.
Jeff Tarr is Chief Executive Officer of Skillsoft and brings a successful track record of building tech-enabled services companies into trusted industry leaders.
Over the last two decades, he has built three publicly traded, tech-enabled information companies into industry leaders. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer and a director of DigitalGlobe, the world leader in satellite imagery and geospatial intelligence, from 2011 until the sale of the company to MDA (now Maxar Technologies) in 2017. Subsequently, Jeff served as an advisor to TPG, other leading private equity firms and corporate clients. From June through October 2019, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Solera Holdings. Prior to DigitalGlobe, Jeff was President and Chief Operating Officer of IHS (now IHS Markit) and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the publicly-traded business information company, Hoover’s, Inc. (now a division of D&B). He began his career with Bain & Company.
Jeff currently serves on the board of EchoStar and is Chairman Emeritus of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Management Board. He also serves on the board of DSST Public Schools, one of the leading open enrollment school systems in the United States. He previously served on the board of CEB (The Corporate Executive Board Company) until the sale of the company to Gartner in 2017. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Jeff holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs.
Helena Foulkes is an experienced Chief Executive Officer and senior executive of publicly traded companies with a track record of building high-performance teams, executing innovative consumer-driven launches and driving digital transformation.
Helena currently serves on the boards of Harry’s, mPharma and the National Bureau of Economic Research, as well as Harvard University’s Board of Overseers and Salesforce’s CEO Advisory Board. She is also a co-founder of BrightSpark Capitol, a special-purpose acquisition company.
Helena previously served as Chief Executive Officer and a board member of Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) from February 2018 to March 2020, where she led the company’s successful privatization.
Prior to HBC, Helena spent 25 years at CVS Health, including as President of CVS Pharmacy and EVP of CVS Health. Earlier in her career, she worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Tiffany & Co. Helena has received numerous professional honors, including being named to Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in Business list and Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business list.
Helena holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard University.
Ron currently serves as CEO of Indigo Ag, a sustainable food production company. He is also Chairman of Valo Health; Executive Partner of Flagship Pioneering; and Lead Director of Ansys, the global leader in engineering simulation.
From 2018 to 2021, Ron served as Skillsoft’s Executive Chairman, providing strategic oversight and guidance as the company evolved its business model and operating strategy. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Intralinks and as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Novell, Inc., among other roles.
Ron began his career at IBM, where he held a number of management and executive positions of increasing responsibility over a 16-year period.
Ron holds a Bachelor of Science from Boston College.
Lawrence C. Illg currently serves as Chief Executive Officer, Food and Edtech, for Prosus after serving as Chief Executive Officer of Prosus Ventures since 2015, where he led investments in food delivery, education, healthcare and more. He has more than 20 years of professional experience, with more than a decade of experience leading global internet companies and currently serves on the board of several Prosus portfolio companies. Before joining Prosus and Naspers in 2013 as the Chief Operating Officer of eCommerce, Mr. Illg was Vice President and General Manager of New Ventures at Trulia, a leading U.S. online real estate marketplace. Previously, he spent eight years as a senior executive at eBay, responsible for strategy and general management of many of its global marketplaces and classifieds assets. Prior to eBay, he spent several years as strategy advisor for leading global consumer goods companies. Mr. Illg started his career at the U.S. Federal Reserve Board and holds a B.A. in Economics and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Illg was selected to serve on our board of directors due to his broad business expertise, including significant experience in the education sector and with high growth companies.
Michael Klein is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Churchill Capital vehicles.
Michael currently serves as Managing Partner of M. Klein and Company, a leading global financial and strategic advisory firm that provides its clients a variety of advice tailored to their objectives, which he founded in 2012.
Michael currently serves on the boards of Credit Suisse Group AG, TBG Europe NV, edX, MultiPlan and Churchill Capital II, IV, V, VI, VII. He is a senior advisor of the Chatham House and a board member of the Harvard Global Advisory Board, Peterson Institute for International Economics, The World Food Programme, Conversation International, Horace Mann School and the Investments Committee & Joint Staff Pension Fund of the United Nations. He previously served on the board of Clarivate following its May 2019 merger with Churchill Capital Corp until 2020.
Michael has more than 30-years of experience in strategic advisory, including more than two decades at Citi and its predecessors, during which he initiated and executed strategic advisory transactions. He began his career as an investment banker in the M&A Advisory Group at Salomon Smith Barney and subsequently became Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Citi Markets and Banking, with responsibilities for global corporate and investment banking and Global Transaction Services across Citi.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics with concentrations in finance and accounting from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Karen Mills is a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Business School and the Harvard Kennedy School, where she focuses on economic policy, U.S. competitiveness, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Karen currently serves as President of MMP Group, which invests in financial services, consumer products and technology-enabled solutions businesses. She serves in multiple board and advisory roles, including as Vice Chair of Envoy Global; Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Private Capital Research Institute; as board member for the National Bureau of Economic Research; and as a member the Harvard Corporation.
Karen previously served on President Obama’s cabinet as Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration. She has also served on several Churchill Capital boards, including Churchill Capital II, as well as the boards of Clarivate, First Aid Beauty, Guardian Insurance, Arrow Electronics and Scotts Miracle-Gro.
Karen holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where she was a Baker Scholar, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard University, magna cum laude.
Peter Schmitt is an accomplished business executive with 25 years of experience and has served as a board member of Skillsoft since August 2020.
Peter brings extensive expertise in application software involving sales management (direct & indirect), partner management, business development and strategy, product and offer definition, consulting/services and marketing. He previously served as Senior Vice President IoT & Digital Twin at CENIT from 2018 to 2019. Prior to CENIT, Peter served as Executive Vice President of Global Sales & Operational Marketing at ESI Group from 2015 to 2017. Peter also served in various positions at Dassault Systèmes from 2000 to 2015.
Peter currently serves the boards of Upchain, ThermoAnalytics and Zemax. He also currently serves as an Industrial Advisor at EQT Group. Peter formerly served on the board of Innovyze.
Peter holds a Doctorate in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Stuttgart and has dual citizenship from the U.S. and Germany.
Lawrence H. Summers is the Charles W. Eliot University Professor and President Emeritus at Harvard University.
Larry currently serves on the boards of ONE, Square and Doma (previously States Title) and chairs the board of the Center for Global Development. He also writes a regular column for The Washington Post and is a weekly commentator on Bloomberg's “Wall Street Week."
Over the past two decades, Larry has held a series of senior policy positions, including as Secretary of the Treasury for President Clinton; as the Director of the National Economic Council for President Obama; as the Chief Economist of the World Bank; and as a co-chair to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Larry previously served as the President of Harvard University and was the first social scientist to receive the Alan T. Waterman Award of the National Science Foundation.
Larry holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
